Your Internal GPS

Quick Read

Yesterday I spoke with a client who was facing uncertainty. Both professionally and personally, she is feeling unfulfilled.

She said, “I am just feeling lost and I don’t know what I’m doing.”

I think considering these last 12 months, such a feeling is understandable.

I asked what she was looking for, where she wanted to go, or what change she intended to make.

She didn’t know.

Again – quite understandable.

Our journey has an internal GPS onboard. And just like the one in your car or on your phone, the system needs to know two things before it can be valuable:

1) Where are you now

2) Where you want to go

Without these two points of reference, the device is useless. It cannot provide direction, much like I could not provide guidance to my client. She did not know where she wanted to go.

I encourage you, if you are feeling lost or adrift, consider the big picture. The desired journey. The destination. That is the hardest part.

Once you know where you’re going, the route becomes much clearer.

All the best,

P.S. I had intended to post about really tough social media marketing questions plaguing small business owners. Instead, I felt this was a more timely message for some. If you’d still like to read the social media one, it is posted here on the blog.
